- The Upsides - The Wonder Years: No matter what else comes out this year, this album will be my number one purely because I don’t think I could have ever related to an album more than this. Plus it’s catchy as fuck. And pop-punk NOT about girls and girl problems (one song doesn’t count, fuck you) makes me happy.
- More Songs - Grown Ups: I’ve been overplaying this a little too much as of late, but damn, it’s just so infectious. Just a fun record to listen to. Top 5?
- Adults!!! - BTMI!: Mini-albums rule, especially when there’s a good possibility a new full length is coming out before years end. Jeff Rosenstock, you are my hero.
- Great Leaps Forward - We Are the Union: Not as good as I would have hoped. Still a fun listen, and some of the only ska I still like.
- Unbearable - Paul Baribeau: This album was a bit disappointing, but it’s still not bad, just nowhere near as good as Grand Ledge.
- Plastic Beach - Gorillaz: The good tracks are brilliant, the bad ones are BAD. Also, Damon Albarn is TOO obsessed with the idea of “plastic beach”.
- Go - Jónsi: Albeit, I haven’t listened to this that much, but besides three songs, I was underwhelmed.
- LOVE (Angels & Airwaves), Enemy of the World (Four Year Strong), and The Winter of Mixed Drinks (Frightened Rabbit) were both really mediocre compared to the great releases by these bands in the past.
- Still unsure about The Monitor (Titus Andronicus) Old Pride (Pianos Become the Teeth), Good Old War (Good Old War), Sever Your Roots (The Felix Culpa), Forgiveness Rock Record (Broken Social Scene), Real Talk (Man Overboard), Rebellion (The Riot Before), Volume 2 (She & Him), Midwestern Minutes (Defiance, Ohio), and Trans-Continental Hustle (Gogol Bordello).
- The new Look Mexico and Motion City Soundtrack were just bad.
Looking forward to the new BTMI!, Barnaby Jones, Snowing, (maybe) Algernon Cadwallader, Iron Chic’s “Not Like This”, Nix86 (even though their demo was pretty bad), and a rumored Coldplay album.
